Hobson’s Choice*

The Department of Justice recently distributed a pamphlet to all their managers called "LGBT Inclusion at Work: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Managers."  J. Matt Barber describes it this way: ‘The document is chilling. It's riddled with directives that grossly violate – prima facie – employees' First Amendment liberties.’ How does it do this?  I think it’s pretty well explained in a two-sentence clip from the pamphlet itself:
"DON'T judge or remain silent. Silence will be interpreted as disapproval."
Can anybody else remember the statement, ‘silence gives consent’?  Used to be, when you withheld your opinion on something it was taken as tacit agreement with the topic under debate (since, if you were against it, you’d say so).  Not anymore, at least in the rarefied air of the DoJ’s fiefdoms; these folks have taken the Thumper Admonition to new heights (or would it be depths, in this case?).

You know, if I didn’t know better, I’d say there are certain members of the homosexual community who are looking to pick a fight with this kind of stuff.  What else can it be when you’re given a choice of endorsing the lifestyle or being condemned as a ‘bigot’?

They forget, apparently, that bigotry can go both ways.  As far as I’m concerned, there’s plenty of bigotry coming from the mouthpieces of the homosexual arena, and this new management rule – embrace, endorse, and celebrate homosexuality or else – is nothing but bigotry.

So if there are homosexuals out there who find this kind of intolerant, oppressive, jackbooted, Dan-Savage-wannabe thuggery okay, then expect to lose whatever tolerance and inclusiveness non-homosexuals – and even those people who couldn’t care less and just want to be left alone – you’ve so-far gleaned.  You didn’t like being pushed around; neither do we.  And there are a lot more of us than there are of you, so the chances that you’ll meet increased intolerance from us is a whole lot higher than us meeting intolerance from you.

Not threatening; just sayin’.

Now, I know there are homosexuals out there who are going to look at what the DoJ is doing and be affronted and upset.  Do yourselves and your movement a great big favor: climb up onto your soap-boxes (newspapers, blog posts, radio shows, whatever you can get) and denounce this kind of thought-police garbage.  The folks that are promoting it aren’t doing you any favors at all – they’re kind of like the Westboro ‘Baptist’ Church is for Christians, if you know what I mean.  Don’t let a few loudmouth rabble-rousers whiz in your punchbowl, guys and gals.  Remind the bigmouths that if tolerance is what they want, tolerance is what they need to show.
