Cum Grano Salis*

Here’s the headline of the story over at Christian Post:
Most Women Still Have Abortions Even After Viewing Ultrasound, Study Claims
And you  might be led to believe that the study, ‘[p]ublished in the latest edition of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Journal’, is completely and totally legitimate, and that it’s based on sound, well-collected data.

You’d be wrong:
Researchers studying medical records of Planned Parenthood clinics in California have found that nearly 99 percent of women went ahead with their abortion plan even after choosing to view an ultrasound image of the fetus. (emphasis mine)
The question is, can the Planned Parenthood data be trusted?  Perhaps not; after all, as Al Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary points out:"By the time a woman is inside a Los Angeles area Planned Parenthood clinic, she has probably for all intent and purposes already made the decision to get the abortion."Well, there’s that; there’s also the fact that the provider of the data, Planned Parenthood, has a vested interest in showing that abortion is the preferred choice, don’t they?  It’s kind of like what we hear when studies are done – or financed – by ‘Big’ Oil, Tobacco, and any other ‘Big’ business: we hear nothing but screams of ‘BIASED DATA!’ from the anti-whatever-the-target-is folks.

This is one of those studies that, IMO, best be taken with a very large grain of salt.
